Welcome to the first installment of 'Wandering Wednesday.' I am very excited to start this new photo challenge with you!

If you are new to this space, you can read all about this photo challenge here. Share your wanderings with us each Wednesday!  I have found already that I am taking closer notice of where my feet are taking me in each moment of my day. 

I appreciate noticing the beauty and artfulness that can be found in the simple moments of every day. 

I look forward to seeing where you have wandered today!

 

"Here I stand in the children's pool that sits among the gardens... my children had finished their time of splashing, sailing boats and cooling off and took off running in the grass while I lingered just a bit longer floating some of the flowers from the garden into the pool adding an artful beauty into my quiet day."

.: 'Wandering Wednesday' A Photo Challenge! :.

Here I stand in one of the five stone raised beds that I created by hand at this new place.  With happiness I check-in daily on this first cucumber of the season--while re-directing little ones who have their eyes set on this ever-growing treasure...

Welcome to 'Wandering Wednesday'!

.: Here I stand in gardening clogs among the Kale, Broccoli, and an ever-growing cucumber! :.

.: Here I stand on a solid slab of granite that is over one hundred years old. These granite steps lead us into and out of  home. I stand here in gardening clogs as I enjoy the daily watering of flowering potted plants and herbs that brush up against me as I come and go!:.

After experiencing such joy with all of you through 'Wash Wednesday,' I thought this would be a wonderful season to continue on with a fun weekly photo challenge!

Let's all take notice of where our feet take us and point our cameras down to take notice of where we are planted.

Are you at the beach? In your children's pool in the backyard? Picking berries? Will we find you in the garden?

Maybe you are Cooking... Sewing... Crafting... Gathering up eggs from the chickens...

.: Here I stand (last year) on painted wooden floors while selecting and blending loose herbal tea while on a date with my beloved at the Peace gardens. :.

Let's share a piece of our days with one another through this photo challenge.  Maybe your photos will share the beauty of the landscapes around you, possibly you will make a mindful statement of how your feet are rooted firmly with your family at home. 

This photo challenge will document our thoughts as women and as mothers, wherever we are rooted right now. 

 

.: Here I stand (last Spring) in confetti-like flower petals that fell down from the trees up overhead.  It looked as though it were snowing in spring. All the while my children danced merrily through the flowery snowfall:.

.:Flower Wreath Tutorial:.

 

.: Many Hummingbird moths stop in on the newly-blooming butterfly bush :.

Today the two eldest children sat patiently alongside the Butterfly Bush in the front yard waiting for winged visitors to come in for a drink. The youngest and I went to gather flowers and vines to craft some summer flower crowns.  (A favorite summer adornment that we create each year!)

Some will ring the crown of our heads and one will make a special centerpiece that will encircle a candle-filled glass jar set upon the porch table...

We started by gathering up a few lovely vines. These were woven together to form a base for the flower wreaths.

I appreciate that this vine still had some intact leaves. I thought it added a wild beauty to the final piece.

.: A few of these Zinnias made their way into the crowns. ( Many more sat beautifully in this watering can on the front porch)  :.

We then gathered up flowers in the garden to add into the flower wreaths.

.: Measuring the greenery base by wrapping around the glass lantern :.

.: Once the greenery base is formed,  push through each flower then weave in the ends :.

Once all the ingredients are gathered, I place the wreath on the table.  In the above photo you can see that I pushed each flower straight through the greenery. 

The stems you see sticking out in the photo above will be woven in and around the wreath using the same technique that formed the original greenery base.  Shown in the photos below.

.: In this photo you can see the vines and stems that are woven together to form the base :.

This final step will give you the opportunity to add fullness to the flower wreath with each stem that you add in. Weave each one up and around the last for a nice full wreath.

 

.: My daughter enjoys wearing these crowns. She wears them throughout the day :.

I appreciate using simple greenery for some flower wreaths (like the one my son was wearing) and for some I will add in a multitude of colorful blooms. 

.: The flower wreath is placed around a glass jar with a candle and set in among sea glass :.

Happy garden children are now donning their flower crowns while our porch table also has a pretty and fresh decoration--another simple gift of summer!

(These wreaths can be brought in for the evening and stored in the refrigerator to provide an extended life to the flowers.)
