With love in my heart I set out today to meditate on peace in the garden. I was surrounded by the work of the bees, I witnessed the gardens bursting forth and appreciated the joyful play of my children.
I am happy to share this meditation in the gardens hoping to gather up peace for our combined spirits!
The lilacs in all of their scented beauty slowly blossom into being bringing forth a richness to the air, a seasonal reminder that the first of May soon will be upon us. A day that will find my family gathering up flowers to hang upon our neighbor's doors. These lilacs heavy with perfume are calling bumble bees from every direction. Quietly alongside them we do the work that we know and gather up the newly born flowering branches that hang low along the grass with the weight of spring.
My youngest works diligently in the garden nearby digging through the dark rich soil hoping to meet a family of worms. He bids each one a pleasant hello and then back in their beds he tucks each one in.It is in this simple play where the love and awareness of the garden first begins. Children develop a holistic sense of the world as they notice each creature doing their part to make our gardens whole.
I have carefully carried along many of my treasured plants that are weighty with memories to this new home. While I create new garden beds for each one I feel at home--as I am planting the very same garden only in new soil. So is the work of our days the same in our new home in this new surroundings. And yes, (in case you may have noticed) the earth worms in gardenmama's gardens are very happy and well fed!
Today I sit once again with my children in this new garden, as these memories of the days when they were babies flood in I drift right back to today and realize just how quickly time moves along.
Sunflower seedlings now live outdoors on a table in their egg crate homes soaking in the sun and standing tall getting ready to salute the sun. I envision their salutations as they stand tall in the summer sun. Many happy yellow, golden, and rust colored natural bird feeders towering over our heads in the garden and gathered up into bouquets to happily brighten the kitchen table during our meals.
Bleeding hearts never cease to intrigue me with their intricate design and their graceful dance upon each stem. As I look to these hearts this meditation on peace continues. I breathe in deeply taking in their unique scent and their elegant beauty.
I sit nearby as my children send wish after wish after wish into a gentle breeze that floats every precious wish upwards to the skies. On this day I join my children in making wishes for I have just one wish that remains heavy on my heart today.
Was it the purple shade of her clothing that caused her to blend in so well with this tree? Climbing up hand over hand until she sits prettily in the crook of this magical tree where she waits and perches like a bird.
I am thankful to witness such magic with my children in nature where I am reminded that miracles do happen every single day!
Wishing and meditating and holding peace in my heart while I wait for a miracle for Kelly!
